What is your name, and what is your role at Empowerment Resources Inc. (ERI)?

My name is Sean Clinkscales, and I serve on ERI’s Advisor Council and support the marketing committee.  I help support the organization by providing ideas and guidance on marketing efforts.

How long have you been involved with ERI, and what inspired you to volunteer?

I have been involved with ERI for a few years. My daughter participated in JIW, and seeing the positive impact it had on her and other families in the community inspired me to get involved. I wanted to support the work ERI is doing to help others.

What has been the most rewarding part of being a girl dad?

The most rewarding part of being a girl dad has been watching my daughter grow into her own person. It is rewarding to encourage her, have meaningful conversations, and see her gain confidence and independence.

How has fatherhood influenced your leadership style?

Fatherhood has taught me that I do not always have to have all the answers. Being present, listening, and creating an environment where people can grow are some of the most important parts of leadership.

You’re also an artist and filmmaker. Can you tell us a little about that side of your life?

I have been drawing and creating art since I was young. I enjoy filmmaking and painting because they allow me to tell stories and connect with people through creativity. Storytelling has always been an important part of my life.

How does creativity influence your work and leadership?

Creativity helps me stay curious, solve problems, and see opportunities where others may see obstacles. I believe the best leaders listen, stay open to new ideas, and are willing to find better ways of doing things.

What does Father’s Day mean to you?

Father’s Day is a reminder of how important it is to be present in your children’s lives. It is a chance to celebrate fatherhood and reflect on the positive impact fathers can have on their children.

Do you have any advice for new fathers?

My advice is to be present and remember that you do not have to be perfect. Be mindful of your words, spend quality time with your children, and focus on building a strong and supportive relationship with them.
