Katrice Oglesby, JIW Alum 2005 shares how JIW shaped her into the woman she is today.

Journey into Womanhood came into my life at the perfect time. I was 14 years old and really starting to identify who I was as a person and eventually who I would become as a woman. I am the only girl with three older brothers. I did not have an older sister to help me through things that I may not have been comfortable talking to my mother about. I was blessed to already know Elexia and she took me under her wings! The program possessed many things for me including character building, a sisterhood, direction, and most importantly love. The objectives we seek to accomplish are always achieved and then more. I learned the values of friendship, loyalty, integrity, honesty, determination, volunteerism, and much more. I have three children of my own now of which two are girls. These values and moral codes I was able to possess in Journey into Womanhood will be passed down to them creating a long-lasting legacy that the program should ever be proud of. There are a countless number of stories I can tell about JIW and Elexia but I’ll just say this, without the guidance and determination that Elexia had to start this program I wouldn’t be the Christian, woman, wife, mother, or nurse that I am today.
