Empowerment Resources, Inc. (ERI) offers Nurturing Parenting Programs®, an evidence-based program that supports families in raising children in a nurturing environment.
The Nurturing Parenting Programs®, a family centered initiative developed by Dr. Stephen Bavolek, is designed to cultivate nurturing parenting skills. The program employs proven approaches that help develop non-violent parenting beliefs and practices through empathy, self-worth, empowerment, self-awareness, and discipline with dignity. The Nurturing Parenting Programs are recognized by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), the National Registry for Evidence-based Parenting Programs (NREPP),and a number of state and local agencies as proven programs for the prevention and treatment of child abuse and neglect.
Parents and caregivers want to raise healthy and successful children. We provide a supportive environment and community for parents and caregivers to get better equipped to nurture their children. A certificate of completion can be provided for participants who meet the course criteria
Training customized by topic from The Nurturing Parenting Programs® curriculum and delivered to you. Coaching services are available for parents and caregivers. We can empower parents and caregivers to develop and strengthen nurturing parenting skills through coaching. Coaching sessions are also available for youth from adolescent to teenagers.

Elexia Coleman-Moss, Executive Director
Elexia Coleman-Moss has worked throughout her career supporting children, adolescents and families facing social and economic problems. She has first-hand experience in our neighborhoods as a teacher, after-school tutor, caseworker, behavior specialist and counselor.
Natasha Clayton, MSW
Natasha Clayton is a passionate Social Worker who began her career earning her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Master’s degree in Social Work from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University. Ms. Clayton holds certificates as a Florida Certified Contract Manager, Google Educator I, and Microsoft Innovative Educator.
Ms. Clayton’s career in the field of social work spans 23 years. In this time span, Ms. Clayton has served diverse groups of disenfranchised populations in non-profit organizations, state government, higher education, and K-12 education administration settings. Ms. Clayton co-authored a girls rights of passage program curriculum ( Journey Into Womanhood). Ms. Clayton’s pride and joy is her son, Jonah, who’s a Morehouse College sophomore.
Ms. Clayton’s “Why” is grounded by her career-long commitment to work with and for community programs which promote equity and social justice for families and improve outcomes for children. Ms. Clayton is inspired by the curiosity of young children, the wisdom of elders, and the creativity of humanity!
Sylvia Woodberry-Adkins, LCSW
Sylvia Woodberry-Adkins is native of Jacksonville Florida and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Sylvia has practiced in the field of Social Work for over 20 years and is passionate about this calling. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in General Studies with minors in Sociology and Management from Jacksonville University and a Masters Degree in Social Work from Walden University.
Sylvia is a wife, mother, and very proud memaw to amazing grandchildren. Sylvia’s “Why” is to live a life of legacy that sets the example of gratitude and gift. Gratitude that recognizes the beauty in herself and others, and the gift that creates every opportunity to give back.
Sylvia has volunteered and performed contract work with Empowerment Resources Inc. for 20 years and wholeheartedly believes in the mission of giving back. She is employed with an area non-profit that provides support for girls and encourages their education, counseling, and most of all advocacy. Sylvia is an advocate for domestic violence survivors and has served on the City of Jacksonville’s Domestic Violence Task Force in the past, and continues to support causes that seek to support victims. She is also an advocate for breast cancer research, and has supported this cause and its survivors for over 15 years.
We offer FREE Parenting Education Seminars through support from the Partnership for Child Health and Kids Hope Alliance. Parents and Caregivers can join us every Thursday from 6 to 7:15 p.m. Registration is not required but encouraged. You can attend all available sessions or simply drop in.
